Mary Irene Lauro, a proud member of the Muscogee Nation, began her journey in silversmithing 17 years ago in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with the guidance of her mentor, the renowned Dine’ jeweler Cody Sanderson. From the start, Mary's passion for her craft shone brightly, earning her recognition in the Native jewelry community and leading to invitations to showcase her work at esteemed events such as the Smithsonian Museums in New York and Washington, D.C., the Autry Museum in Los Angeles, the Heard Museum in Phoenix, and the Santa Fe Indian Market.
Before she turned 30, Mary took a significant step by opening galleries in Santa Fe and Scottsdale dedicated to contemporary Indigenous art. These spaces not only spotlight major artists but also serve as a gathering place for family, friends, and community members to celebrate and appreciate their rich cultural heritage.
Inspired deeply by her family, faith, and Oklahoma roots, Mary pours her heart into creating art that embodies love, grace, and spirituality. She hopes her jewelry connects collectors with meaningful gifts that honor her ancestry while also weaving in stories and traditions cherished by her family. Each piece reflects a legacy of craftsmanship and care, serving as a timeless reminder of the bonds that unite us. Discover the beauty of Mary’s creations, where each jewelry piece tells a unique story, just like the family it represents.
